Carpe Diem

Will I find you in an aftertime,
will we rush through roses in the rain
through strands of violent gold;

Can the mind be ever satisfied,
can the green mind make the world
green, for being loved or loving you?

The world is all around us
the east wind flowing into the west
as time becomes time again, as it became,

as we came into an aftertime,
an oblivion, and could not tell
to what we had already said farewell.

Tell me again about the human race.
Tell of verses wild with storm and din.
Tell me, how will I know you again

and how should I find you
if I leave before the light is scattered
and rush through roses in the rain.
